Bruce Bethke’s first attempt at cyberpunk. I guess this book is the best illustration that a lot of tech and cyberwords and wacky characters do not necessarily amount to a work of literature. One can also say that this has been proven by others before him, and that very few achieve literary status through cyberpunk, but it’s no excuse. On the contrary. It’s just mostly megalomaniac and pretending to be funny, which it nonetheless manages to be sometimes. But if you’re short for time, better skip this one.
